Creating Vya, Dry Farming in Nevada
Creating Vya is a 40-page booklet prepared as public interpretation in conjunction with the Ruby Pipeline Project. It was produced in collaboration with Far Western Anthropological Research Group. Vya was a small town in northwestern Nevada, closely associated with a brief flurry of dry-farm homesteading in Long Valley during the 1910s. The booklet presents the compelling story of these homesteaders, who arrived in the high desert equipped with little more than their faith in the dry farming movement.
