Historical Archaeology in the Cortez Mining District represents a unique collaboration between Historic Insight, Summit Envirosolutions, Barrick Gold Corporation, and the University of Nevada Press. The book, published in 2016, is written to share with the general public the results of a major, privately funded cultural resource management project. It uses archaeological data, archival research, and oral histories to tell the story of everyday life in one of Nevada’s longest-lived mining districts. In June, 2017, Historical Archaeology in the Cortez Mining District was singled out “For Special Recognition” by the Mining History Association.
